"Bitter September", by Sophia Farantatou, Switzerland, (2022, 26')*with English subtitles

After the murder of Greek-American LGBT activist Zak Kostopoulos, his childhood friend Sophia Farantatou returns to Greece and finds herself stuck in a dead end. The video of the murder, shot by a passerby, is being replayed on all the country's TV channels. Between the media narrative and her friend's own archive, Sofia has no choice but to isolate herself and contemplate the concept of memory. Only time can give her the space to mourn and deal with her friend's absence.
