A Queer Synth Pop Odyssey — Live at Romantso, Athens

Evripidis & His Tragedies x Rhumba Club

Two queer pop forces take over the Romantso rooftop.

Evripidis & His Tragedies is the alter ego of Athens-born artist Evripidis Sabatis. Blending classical piano, queer storytelling, and dark humour, his confessional pop dances between heartbreak and joy.

Rhumba Club brings the party: sweaty synths, disco heat, and emotional release, launching his HONCHO era in the city that shaped his sophomore record, Love Apokalypto.

Your summer swansong — one last rooftop dance before it all fades.

EVRIPIDIS AND HIS TRAGEDIES:

Evripidis and His Tragedies is a musician, writer, and visual artist from Athens. His "Tragedies" are confessional, darkly humorous songs in English, Greek, and Spanish, drawing on his classical piano training, his queer experiences, and his unique narrative style. Evripidis' pop sensibilities dance along the fine line between tragedy and the joy of life.

Although he started out as a songwriter accompanied by piano, and continued playing music and recording with a large band, in recent years Euripides has been pursuing a synth-pop solo career, mixing his love for Doo Wop, Girl Groups, New Wave, and Indie Pop with multi-layered electronic soundscapes and presenting a live performance where humor, melancholy, raw energy, and disarming honesty go hand in hand.

He has just released the double album Alegre Persona Triste, celebrating 20 years of music, which began with a concert in May 2005 in a bar in Barcelona, the city where he lives and is a permanent member of the local underground scene. He has released six albums and various singles, performed at festivals (Primavera Sound, FIB, Indietracks, Indiefjord, Cologne Popfest, Synch, Agorafoviko, Eurosonic Noorderslag...) and at various venues in Europe and North America. He has shared the stage with his favorite artists such as John Grant, Jens Lekman, Peter Bjorn & Jon, Arab Strap, Nalyssa Green, The Ballet, Algora, Papa Topo, Miss Trichromi...

He is currently promoting his latest album and recording new material, some of which he is already performing at his concerts.

RHUMBA CLUB

Rhumba Club is the London-based alt-pop project of Tom Falle, blending analogue synths, disco grooves, and queer storytelling into bold, danceable anthems. Praised by BBC 6 Music as a “queer renaissance man” and described by Molchat Doma as “high IQ synthpop”, his music fuses the controlled energy of Future Islands with the introspection of Perfume Genius.

Since his 2021 debut Welcome to the Rhumba Club, Rhumba Club has built a loyal community of 'Clubbers' — and enjoyed collaborations & endorsements from Hermès, Fendi, and Adidas. His 2023 album Love Apokalypto — executive produced by Grammy-nominated Mikko Gordon (IDLES, Arcade Fire, The Smile) — saw tracks like "Perfect Queen" and "Beach Lizard" celebrated by BBC Radio 6 Music, Attitude, Wonderland, and Clash.

On stage, Rhumba Club delivers a high-energy live show - one part queer disco euphoria, one part cathartic release - having toured across Europe as both a headliner and a support act for artists including Patrick Wolf, Molchat Doma, Will Butler + Sister Squares, and Miel de Montagne.

Rhumba Club began his current era with "Odyssey" — a BBC Introducing Track of the Week. His third album, HONCHO, due in Autumn 2025 via Alter K, promises a cinematic, alternative disco sound featuring collaborations with major left-field pop artists.
